- Continuous Professional Learning - Engaging in and valuing constructive feedback, reflecting practices, professional learning and collaborative activities that support professional, instructional and schoolwide improvement.
- Communication - Using effective and responsible communication with students, families and colleagues about student learning.
- Professional and Ethical Conduct - Treating all with respect and maintaining professional and ethical conduct with students, families and colleagues.
Reflection:
Adherence to Laws, Rules, and Policies - I have a current educator license and adhere to all relevant laws, rules and policies.
Continuous Professional Learning - I am a long-time member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and have attended the annual meeting and exposition twice in the last five years. I attended the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools (UAPCS) Conference in June 2022. In 2023 I took a 30-hour Professional Development Course from Stanford EDx called "How To Learn Math for Teachers". I love attended conferences and engaging in professional development. Each time I leave rejuvenated in my personal mission to help students engage with math in meaningful ways and full of ideas to help fulfill said personal mission.
I have collaborated with a fellow math teacher to plan and conduct monthly professional development for the K-5 math teachers at my school. These monthly trainings were focused on improving math instruction in all classrooms including implementing the eight standards for mathematical practice, focusing on instruction that builds conceptual knowledge of procedural knowledge, utilization of technology, and problem-solving strategies.
